The 4th Annual Hot Sauce Hootenanny
at Simple Promise Farms

By Brian McKinney

On November 2, 2024 The Simple Promise Farms 4th Annual Hot Sauce Hootenanny made its fiery return! I wrote this article from conversations with Brandon Guinn

Executive Director, Founder and Alex Litke, Development Coordinator. Had a great time!

🔥 A Sizzling Good Time: Highlights from the Hot Sauce Hootenanny at Simple Promise Farms 🌶️🎶

If you missed the Hot Sauce Hootenanny at Simple Promise Farms, don’t worry—we’ve got the full spicy scoop! This family-friendly Texas celebration brought the heat in all the best ways, with a full day of toe-tapping tunes, fiery flavors, and activities for all ages.

Set in the heart of Central Texas, this wasn’t just another event—it was a community gathering with soul, purpose, and a whole lot of flavor.

The Highlights

🌶️ Hot Sauce Contest

The competition was fierce, and the sauces were even fiercer. Whether folks entered their secret recipes or just came to taste, the Hot Sauce Contest turned up the heat as contenders went head-to-head for bragging rights and the coveted “Best Hot Sauce” title. The crowd? Cheering. The tongues? On fire.

🎸 Live Texas Music

From boot-stomping ballads to heartwarming harmonies, our lineup of Texas country artists delivered the goods. The stage buzzed with energy, and before long, the dance floor filled with two-stepping enthusiasts of all ages.

🐂 Mechanical Bull Rides

Nothing says Texas like a mechanical bull. Riders of all skill levels took their turns, trying to hang on while the crowd roared with laughter and encouragement. Pride was earned, and some seriously impressive rides defied gravity.

🎠 Family Fun Galore

Kids weren’t left out of the fun—far from it. A dedicated family zone featured games, a petting zoo, and creative activities that kept the little ones smiling all day. It was joy in motion, with plenty of sugar-fueled giggles to go around.

🍽️ Delicious Food Plates

Of course, no hootenanny is complete without good eats. Guests dug into a curated menu designed to pair perfectly with all that spicy hot sauce, offering a flavor-filled balance of fire and comfort.

🛍️ Silent Auction & 🎟️ Raffle Prizes

Attendees browsed a unique silent auction packed with one-of-a-kind items and experiences, while lucky raffle winners walked away with some serious loot. All proceeds supported an incredible cause—making every bid and ticket a win-win.

🧊 Mocktails to Cool the Burn

To keep things cool, guests sipped on handcrafted non-alcoholic mocktails—perfectly refreshing and family-friendly. Hydration never tasted so good.

💚 More Than Just a Party
A Mission with Heart

While the Hootenanny delivered the fun, it also carried a powerful purpose. This annual event raised funds to support Simple Promise Farms' mission—providing hope and healing to individuals in recovery.

Proceeds from the day supported scholarships, outreach programs, and meaningful employment for those rebuilding their lives. The farm itself offers a nurturing space where recovery is rooted in nature, community, and purposeful activity.

🙌 Thank You, Elgin & Beyond

The success of this event wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support of our community. From volunteers and sponsors to attendees and performers—you showed up, you showed out, and you made a difference.
